Our amazing team of dedicated and talented volunteers keeps us on air and makes everything at LCR FM possible. Would you like to join us and become part of what we do?
You don’t necessarily need experience but it’s important that you have a passion and appreciation for local radio; are able to work as part of a team; have an honest, reliable and professional approach and want to share Lincoln’s stories, places and people.
You also need to be a listener! Please take the time to familiarise yourself with our shows etc before you apply.
You might be someone from the broadcasting industry, now retired and wanting to share your valuable skills; a media student looking for practical experience for your CV; someone with useful and relevant transferable skills not necessarily from broadcasting. You could be someone who feels they have what it takes to add value to what we do!
We currently need a permanent Through Noon show presenter (10am to 1pm) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Through Noon is a busy show with guests, news, travel and additional local content so this would suit somebody with some experience. The show is live from our studios. You'll also need to work on your own initiative and be mostly self-sufficient for example finding your own local content to supplement what other volunteers can produce. You may be broadcasting alone so you'll need to drive a desk (Myriad). You will have a delegated contact to support you. This is a great opportunity for someone wishing to return to radio or develop their on-air skills. This role is a volunteer role and unpaid. Membership required. Please send information about yourself, your background and if possible any links to your previous on-air presenting to volunteering@lcrlincoln.com (You may be asked to record a dummy show.)
We are in need of an efficient and organised individual who can confidentially work alongside our board to look after paper and online administration, which includes membership. Ideally this person would be able to maintain a shared online documentation system and be familiar with OneDrive. This role needs office and administrative experience and a methodical professional approach. This role is based at our station office and perhaps needs one day per week or a couple of mornings or afternoons. Good interpersonal skills and a self-sufficient, self-motivated approach preferred. A knowledge of radio helpful but not essential. This role is a volunteer role and unpaid. Membership required. Please send information about yourself to volunteering@lcrlincoln.com
We are seeking a switched-on, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to seek out potential advertisers and sponsors plus deal with enquiries. Professionalism, commitment and an understanding of businesses is of high importance. You’ll be working alongside our board so you will be supported & part of a vital function. We may also need you to work alongside our creative support and studio manager. This can be either a voluntary or commissioned role; we would expect that you have proven experience and an understanding of advertising. Membership required. Please email volunteering@lcrlincoln.com telling us more about yourself.
We need two content producers who can attend events and gather short (3-4 minute) audio files, edit, write the intro and exit and submit for broadcast. This is a great opportunity for journalism students to practice their skills. The events will be agreed beforehand with a delegated station contact, who will also submit the audio file into a running order. You need to be able to work to a brief (as you would at a non community station) and understand what makes great audio. You will be fully supported and trained but expected to be able to record, edit etc. This role is a volunteer role and unpaid. Membership required. Please send information about yourself, your studies, interests and an audio file demonstrating your recording and editing skills to volunteering@lcrlincoln.com
We need a technical content producer who can listen to our guest interviews and produce short (approx 60-90 seconds) audio files highlighting newsworthy must-listen moments. This is a great opportunity for media production / journalism students to practice their skills. The interviews to be agreed beforehand with a delegated station contact, who will also upload the audio file to our social media. You need to be able to work to a brief (as you would at a non community station) and understand what makes great audio. You will be fully supported and trained but expected to be able to edit etc. At a later point we will need your help with editing longer files for podcast use. This role is a volunteer role and unpaid. Membership required. Please send information about yourself, your studies, interests and an audio file demonstrating your editing skills to volunteering@lcrlincoln.com
We currently need stand-in presenters to cover our Drive shows (3pm to 6pm) and Through Noon show (10am to 1pm). Drive & Through Noon are busy shows with guests, news, travel and additional local content so this would suit somebody with experience who is able to keep the pace on what are busy, fast-paced shows. It is also best suited to someone who is available during the day, sometimes with short notice. Both shows are live from our studios. You'll also need to work on your own initiative and be mostly self-sufficient for example finding your own local content. You may be broadcasting alone so we need presenters with experience (including of Myriad) who can drive a desk. You will have a delegated contact to support you. This is a great opportunity for someone wishing to return to radio. This role is a volunteer role and unpaid. Membership required. Please send information about yourself, your background and if possible any links to your previous on-air presenting to volunteering@lcrlincoln.com (You may be asked to record a dummy show.)
We are a community station broadcasting to the community by the community so we wish to involve as many as possible, including those who need extra support. As we currently have limited expert knowledge, we would like to find someone who can buddy and support interested parties so they can fulfil their radio ambitions. We do not have anyone at present needing support but we would like to be ready, or you may have individuals you would like to make this available to. Opportunities may include observing presenters, perhaps reading something on air or even recording their own show off air to share their enthusiasm and skills with family and friends. This would suit someone already working in this field and in possession of suitable experience and qualifications. This role is a volunteer role and unpaid. Membership required. Please get in touch with volunteering@lcrlincoln.com telling us about yourself and your experience
